On the morning of May 23rd, the 10th meeting of the Joint Administration Committee of Asia Europe Business School（ECNU) was held in the Academic Building of the Asia Europe Business School in Zizhu International Education Park. Academician Qian Xuhong, President of East China Normal University; Du Zhenyu Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Department; Yuan Zhigang, Director of the Academic Committee of the Department of Economics and Management; President Isabelle HUAULT and Vice President Nicolas PEJOUT of emlyon business school in France, Tang Jifeng (General Manager) and Chen Qinghua (Deputy Manager) of Zizhu International Education Park attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by He Jiaxun, Chinese Dean of Asia Europe Business School, and Wang Hua, French Dean of Asia Europe Business School.
At the meeting, He Jiaxin, Chinese Dean of AEBS and Wang Hua, Dean of emlyon business school Asia and French Dean of AEBS, reviewed the development overview of the Asia Europe Business School from 2016 to 2022, especially the new breakthroughs since the 9th Joint Administration Committee Meeting. Specifically, they looked forward to the future five-year plan of the school from program development, faculty development, international accreditation, and other aspects, discussed relevant issues and formed a resolution. Since the 9th Joint Administration Committee meeting, the interdisciplinary construction of Science and Technology-Driven Business Discipline advocated by the School has gained significant influence. The Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer (ECNU), in collaboration with ECNU-UH Joint Translational Science and Technology Research Institute cooperatively established by ECNU and University of Haifa, and Asia Europe Business School cooperated by ECNU and emlyon business school, jointly built a Sino-Israel-French Technology and Business Innovation Education Alliance to carry out the interdisciplinary construction of Sci&Tech -Driven Business Discipline”，and also had achieved many outstanding results.
Renewal of the Agreement for the Joint Student Training Program between East China Normal University and emlyon business school in France
President Qian Xuhong further explained the connotation of Sci&Tech-Driven Business in his speech. He stated that Shanghai aims to build a global science and technology innovation center, making technology a key focus of East China Normal University and an important growth point for the University’s comprehensive development. In December 2019, at the 9th Joint Administration Committee meeting held at Lyon Business School, he introduced the development strategy of East China Normal University to the former president of emlyon business school, hoping to continue to run the Asia Europe Business School well and cooperate with the University of Haifa in Israel to fully leverage the advantages of the two schools in business and transformational technology, promoting the development of technology and business talents in Shanghai, with the core being the cultivation of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) talents. The word international in the name of Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer (ECNU)represents the two developing foreign partners of the School (emlyon business school and University of Haifa), with the aim of helping each other and growing together on the same platform. Farewell to the impact of the pandemic in the past three years, the school will take the construction of the CTO project as an opportunity to unwaveringly deepen cooperation and exchange with international partners, increase resource investment, and promote the healthy and sustainable development of the School.
Dean He Jiaxun and Wang Hua reported to the Joint Administration Committee on the development achievements of the Asia Europe Business School from 2016 to 2022. There are four main aspects: actively promoting the interdisciplinary construction of Sci&Tech-Driven Business Discipline , creating a concentration for intelligent business majors, and leading the transformation of undergraduate education in business administration; Implementing the dual mentor system talent training model; The level of internationalization has further improved. Currently, there are international students from 53 countries and six continents, accounting for 50% of the total number of students in the School, forming a significant English-speaking international education environment; Great achievements have been made in student training, with the employment units of 2023 master's graduates focusing on high-tech industries. In 2023, several students went to top universities in the United States to pursue doctoral degrees; Significant breakthroughs have been made in scientific research, including publishing four papers in the world-top business management journals in the past two years (based on UTD24 publications recognized by business schools worldwide), and so on.
Isabelle HUAULT, Executive President & Dean of emlyon business school, highly affirmed the fruitful results of the cooperation between China and France. She pointed out that one of the guiding strategies of emlyon business school is interdisciplinary and comprehensive development, which is consistent with the development of Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer（ECNU). She emphasized that emlyon business school hopes to adhere to the development of industry, academia, and research, driving academia, industry, and programs together, while also placing great emphasis on academic excellence and high-quality development of programs.
The significant achievements of this meeting include the renewal of two joint training program agreements between East China Normal University and emlyon business school in France, 2+2 Double Degree Bachelor's Program in Business Administration (Sino-French Innovative Experimental Class) and Double Degree Master's Program in International Business(Global Management and China Studies), as well as the project agreement for students from emlyon business school to study at the Asia Europe Business School of East China Normal University.
Subsequently, both sides held full discussions on the next five years plan of the Asia Europe Business School, mainly covering the development of the school's projects, faculty construction, international accreditation, and other aspects. Specifically, they conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as increasing the scale of interdisciplinary programs, establishing the French Branch office of the Asia Europe Business School, promoting the construction of the smart business(AI business) professional concentration, joint scientific research innovation and faculty development, and improving educational standards and quality, And a consensus was reached on the meeting time and discussion items of the 11th Joint Management Committee of Asia Europe Business School.
At the end of the meeting, Dean. He Jiaxun expressed sincere gratitude to the representatives of emlyon business school for their arrival, as well as to the discussions and constructive opinions on issues such as the construction of the Asia Europe Business School and Sino French cooperation. He hopes that both sides can reap more cooperation results in the future. Dean. Wang Hua said that he would unswervingly implement the resolution of the Joint Management Committee and lead the school to make full preparations from the project level to welcome the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. Executive President Isabelle HUAULT appreciates the welcome from East China Normal University and invites her Chinese counterparts to visit the new campus of emlyon business school in 2024.
