The 2022 Enterprise Mentor Meeting and Appointment Ceremony of the Asia Europe Business School of East China Normal University was successfully held online On December 14.

AEBS has employed 22 enterprise mentors this year.


Enterprise Mentor Meeting


AEBS has invited outstanding middle and senior managers from various fields of smart business, finance, biotechnology, techonological innovation, consulting industries, who have rich management and entrepreneurial experience and with strong corporate-social responsibility as well as excellent leadership to form the enterprise mentor team. 


This year witnesses the sixth year that AEBS has implemented the enterprise-mentor system. Every thing we do is focused on these things: providing professional upgrading platform for our students to upgrade their comprehensive practical ability; Enlightening the students and pointing out the way of their acadmic study and extending their own professional practice in the context of enterprise-mentor system; Taking advantage of enterprise-mentors’leading role of promoting school-enterprise communication; Cultivating professional talents required by enterprises for win-win cooperation and passing on the entrepreneurial spirit from generation to generation.


  

The meeting was hosted in English by Liu Xin, and Chen Tianyi, the 2022 undergraduates majoring in business administration.




"In ancient times those who wanted to learn would seek out a teacher, one who could impart professional knowledge, resolve doubts and englighten the lifelong ambition of students. Today, teachers like candles who burn themselves out and brighten others.”

At the beginning of the event, Professor He Jiaxun, Chinese Dean of AEBS, delivered a welcome speech.

Professor He Jiaxun extended a heartfelt welcome and gratitude to all the business mentors and students who participated in the online conference. Then, he reviewed and undertook the Leadership Thinking view put forward at the opening ceremony, and expressed his sincere wishes and requirements to all students at a deeper level, hoping that all students should not only master management theory, methodology and skills, but also have leadership and leadership thinking, seriously think and grasp the three cores of "I want", "I can" and "I act". The enterprise  mentors would help everyone achieve "I act". Professor He also pointed out that he hoped that the students could cherish the good platform created by AEBS for each student, cultivate and exercise core leadership under the guidance of enterprise mentors, and apply leadership thinking into practical business activities, which will bring long-term benefits to students.


Professor He Jiaxun read the list of enterprise mentors and loanched the appointment ceremony.


Then, Professor He continued to read out the list for the Undergraduate Internship Base Award Ceremony and Student Ambassador Awarding Ceremony. The five licensed practice bases are: Shanghai FAME Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Haolin Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Hejun Culture Communication Co., Ltd., Shanghai Jingteng Information Technology Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Shanglv Network Technology Co., Ltd.


Tutor Ms. Tang Xiaoying introduced the enterprise-mentor program in detail. She gave an overview of the program: 88 students who participated in the enterprise- mentor program; 22 experienced and excellent enterprise mentors had promoted the program and helped students successfully till the 6th year. The figures illustrate the maturity and advantages of the enterprise-mentor system. Ms. Tang indicated that the enterprise-mentor system would be one of the dual mentor system, and hoped the students could strengthen the professional knowledge, catch the details of business simulation, and clarify career planning in the 2-year program. Subsequently, Ms. Tang introduced the goals of the program and the schedule for the completion of the goals through providing some models of project activities. Finally, she proposed that “ initiative”,  subjective initiative and “perseverance” are the key elements leading to success.

 Each enterprise mentor made a brief self-introduction, and all students and mentors took a group photo.

 In the enterprise mentor-student group meeting, each mentor has a cordial dialogue with the matching group member students. The mentors gave specific information on their self-learning experience, industry background, and future development and expectations of the students, and then led by each group of student ambassadors, the group members expressed their opinions on their future plans, expectations for mentors, and the format of future corporate activities. In the lively online-discussion, distance can not block the friendship gradually established between the mentors and students, and the cordial words and intimate greetings are not only warm in this cold winter, but also the surging hope of teachers and students working together for a better future. This year, AEBS innovated the mentor-student interaction mode, and carried out two parallel sessions, which the students can choose to join according to their own preferences.


Sub-session (1) Roundtable Forum: Opportunities and Challenges of Enterprise Digital Transformation in the Post-Epidemic Era


Chaired by Qiao Tianqi, a first-year marketing student, Hu Kun, Director of Digital Department of Fosun Group, Ma Liang, Founder of Shanghai Yuanqihui Technology Co., Ltd., Clark WU, Chief Information Officer(Asia) of Kraft Heinz Management Co., Ltd. , and Yuan Dong, Chairman of Shanghai Zhitao Cultural Innovation Co., Ltd., attended the forum as guests and expressed their insights on the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation of enterprises in the post-epidemic era. 

The mentors made their views on the developmentof digitalization within enterprises, the new requirements put forward by enterprises for employees in the information and digital department, and the foothold of digital transformation chosen by enterprises from several perspectives, such as small and medium-sized enterprises and leading enterprises, business and technology ends, consumer enterprises and supply chains, marketing short-term and production ends. After  this roundtable forum, the students had a clear oulook of the current status of digital transformation in enterprises, and also a clearer understanding of the new needs and challenges of enterprise digital transformation after the impact of the epidemic. Including the topic of qualifications for the recruitment and training of employees in the context of the digital transformation of enterprises, which is actually for students’further development into the digital department of the enterprise in the future. They can benchmark some of their current skills deficiencies to further guide their career development and skill learning.



Sub-session (2) Career Development Workshop: The First Step of Job Interviews

Raymond Tey, Director of Pre-sales Solutions from Iron Mountain Data (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., who shared his experience in job interviews from the perspective of interviewers.

“Before entering the workplace, students need to clarify their career development plan, which is a first strategy, otherwise the work carried out afterwards will be futile. Then, the resume is the face of the interviewees. It is necessary to fully demonstrate the project experience, also consider the interviewer's reading habbits, and keep the resume neat. Making relevant preparations, such as understanding the company's development and business layout; Preparing issues of interest appropriately and expressing concerns about the company; Checking the equipment is working properly when you need an online-inteview.During the interview,  you need to learn to communicate effectively with the interviewer and express your determination to join the company. At the same time, build a close rapport with the interviewers and avoid tit-for-tat conversations.”

                                                -- Mr. Tey used a storytelling language to explain the  precautions in the interview, and the students also benefited a lot.

Warm winter days, accompanied by love. We are willing to take advantage of this platform to promote the diversified development of students, strengthen the connection between students and enterprises, and work together to create a brighter future.
