Amid the crackle of fireworks
the old year slips away
As firecrackers echo near and far
The Spring Festival arrives right on
cue Bearing ages of reunions
and wishes true
Welcoming years of joy
and well-being anew
2026 New Year

2026 New Year
The Chinese New Year is the most representative cultural symbol of the Chinese nation. With the development of globalization, the Spring Festival has also become an important link of the world's diverse cultural exchanges. As the Year of the Horse (2026) approaches, AEBS Students’ Union continues the warm tradition by organizing the Chinese New Year Online Cross-Cultural Photo Share Activity. The initiative aims to collect unique experiences and reflections from faculty and students during the holiday, helping everyone create lasting memories of this special occasion.

Activity Flow

This event will use a mini-program to collect participants 'unique experiences and feelings during the Spring Festival, including photos of the New Year's Eve dinner, local Spring Festival customs, the character 'Fu' (symbolizing good fortune), Spring Festival couplets, and other Year of the Horse-themed content. After being selected by staff, these photos will be added to a voting mini-program, where students and teachers can cast their votes for their favorite entries!

Activity Time

Submissions open: 25 January – 20 February
Online voting: 21 February – 25 February

Requirements

The content should showcase the fusion of Spring Festival elements with local culture (e.g., dragon and lion dances by overseas Chinese communities, New Year's Eve dinners with international guests, and creative decorations for the Year of the Horse), while maintaining a positive tone and avoiding copyright issues.

Submission

Scan the QR code below to access the photo-collection mini-program, then upload 2-5 original photographs together with a 30-300-word caption. Briefly note the shooting location, cultural highlights, and your personal impressions.

Voting Rules

Each WeChat account can cast 3 votes per day. Vote rigging is prohibited, and any violation will result in immediate disqualification. The specific voting channel will be announced later. Please stay tuned for updates.

Results Announcement and Awards

The organizing committee will determine the winners based on public voting (70%) and jury evaluations (30%, comprising faculty members and student representatives), with the list to be publicly announced. The award ceremony schedule will be announced separately.
This event awards first prize (1 winner), second prize (3 winners), third prize (5 winners), and participation awards (multiple winners), with corresponding prizes given for each award.
