Event Review | A Visit to Bohe & Hansen Law Firm: Experiencing the Power of Law and Business

On the afternoon of November 9, 2025, faculty and students from AEBS of ECNU, organized by the AEBS Students Union Academic Department, visited Shanghai Bohe &Hansen Law Firm (BHS) for an insightful event themed “The Intersection of Law and Business.”




This vist attracted participation from students representing multiple countries including China, Cambodia, Mexico, Vietnam, Australia, Thailand, Pakistan, Belarus, Iran, and Myanmar. Through bilingual exchanges in Chinese and English, sparks of legal and cultural insights continuously ignited.





开场致辞Opening Remarks





At the beginning of the event, Mr. Zhu Yuhui, President of the Putuo Branch of the Shanghai Western Returned Scholars Association, and Dean He Jiaxun delivered welcoming speeches, warmly greeting AEBS students and faculty.

Both speakers emphasized that this visit was not only an academic experience but also an excellent opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of China’s legal practices and the international business environment.

Mr. Zhu also thoughtfully introduced Shanghai’s unique cultural charm to the international students who have recently arrived in the city, recommending several must-visit attractions and sharing insights into local culture and life in Shanghai.

Keynote Lecture I: “Introduction to China’s Legal Profession”

Speaker: Mr. Gao Ge, Partner lawyer at Shanghai Bohe & Hansen Law Firm



Mr. Gao delivered a bilingual presentation introducing the development, structure, and institutional framework of China’s legal profession. Drawing from his international study and professional experience, he shared the challenges and opportunities faced by Chinese lawyers in the field of cross-border commercial legal services, inspiring students to appreciate the professionalism and diversity of the legal career path.




Keynote Lecture II: “Highlights of the Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China”

Speaker: Mr. Tian Siyuan, Senior Partner lawyer at Shanghai Bohe & Hanssen Law Firm



Mr. Tian guided participants through the logic and practical significance behind the compilation of China’s Civil Code, focusing on six key areas: Legislative Process, Right of Residence, Electronic Contracts, Personal Information Protection, Forms of Wills, Tort Liability and Assumption of Risk. Students gained a deeper understanding of how the Civil Code functions in everyday life and how it reflects the depth and warmth of China’s legal system.




Conclusion




This visit not only deepened students’ understanding of China’s legal framework but also encouraged interdisciplinary reflection between law and business.At the intersection of these two realms, AEBS students gained new inspiration — embracing the spirit of rule of law with a global perspective and a reflective mind.

Looking ahead, the Asia-Europe Business School will continue to build platforms that integrate academic learning with professional practice and cultural exchange with intellectual growth, empowering students to become future leaders who embody both rationality and empathy in the global legal and business community.
