In order to ensure the safety of international students studying and living in China, strengthen their safety awareness and legal concepts, and regulate their disciplinary behavior during their stay in China, a safety education lecture for international students in the spring semester of the Asia Europe Business School of East China Normal University was successfully held on the afternoon of March 8, 2024 in the 211-class room. The School specially invites campus police to enter the classroom and explain common safety issues and legal knowledge to students together with teachers from the school's international student office.
Officer Huang from the Foreign Affairs Department of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau's Cultural Security Branch first introduced four common cases on campus, namely theft cases, fraud cases, brawls, and fire cases; And in the form of playing videos, students can intuitively feel that hidden dangers are hidden in daily life. Next, Officer Huang listed common types of college cases and elaborated in detail on common situations such as burglary, car theft, online fraud, electrical fires, and fights, making students fully aware of the importance of prevention in advance. Subsequently, Officer Huang also introduced legal knowledge related to accommodation registration, traffic safety, and the elimination of drugs, enabling students to fully understand relevant laws and regulations, raise awareness, and prevent illegal and disorderly behavior from occurring.
Next, Teacher Li from the International Student Office will give a safety lecture to the students. Through detailed legal and regulatory explanations and interactive Q&A, combined with the frequent cases of international students in recent years, the lecture will be conducted from four aspects: drug prohibition, fire safety, traffic safety, and fraud prevention. Among them, Teacher Li emphasized the issue of drug control. She emphasized that smoking or trading common drugs such as marijuana and methamphetamine is illegal in China. The school adopts a zero-tolerance attitude towards drugs. Once a drug-related international student is discovered, serious measures will be taken immediately and the student will be expelled. She strongly calls on international students to raise their awareness of new drugs, eliminate contact with drugs, establish correct values, and uphold the legal bottom line.
The two teachers benefited the students greatly through vivid cases and wonderful expressions. To further familiarize international students with security knowledge, the school has specially distributed two security manuals, anti-fraud and anti-drug, to the attending students. Through this lecture, international students have learned about the laws and regulations that should be followed in China, as well as how to protect their own and property safety, and how to respond in case of accidents, effectively strengthening their own safety awareness.
